We review it within 48 hours
New listings are reviewed by our team and approved — or sent back with feedback — within 48 hours of submission. This screening is what keeps scam postings off RentSelect. You'll be notified as soon as your listing is live.
Step 3
Manage inquiries
Once live, your listing appears in search. Applications and messages collect in your dashboard — respond, approve or decline whenever you're ready.

Is it really free?: Yes. Listing a property on RentSelect costs nothing — no listing fee, no subscription, no charge per inquiry. In the future we may offer optional paid add-ons like featured placement or verification, but the core marketplace stays free.
Why isn't my listing visible right away?: Every new listing is reviewed by our team before it goes public, and we complete that review within 48 hours of submission. This screening step is deliberate — it's how we keep fake and scam postings off the site. You'll get a notification the moment your listing is approved.
What happens when I edit a live listing?: An edited listing goes back for re-review before the changes appear publicly, and is re-released within 48 hours. This keeps the same anti-scam standard applied to every version of a posting.
How do I screen renters?: When a renter applies, you see the profile details they've provided — employment status, monthly income and intended move-in date. You can also message any applicant directly to ask follow-up questions before making a decision.
Do I need to share my phone number or email?: No. Renters reach you through your RentSelect inbox. Your personal contact details are never published on a listing.
What makes a good listing?: Clear, well-lit photos of every room, an honest description, accurate rent and an up-to-date availability date. Listings with real photos and complete details get far more quality inquiries.
Which areas can I list in?: Anywhere in Canada outside Quebec. Quebec rental law requires a different product, so we'll launch there only when we can do it properly.
